What do you think about it?

I worry it's excluding some highly creative people. Do you need to have not smoked cannabis even once in the past month to design an proper oil cooled turbine housing? Come on.
Worst Case scenario: even if someone's outof control and they actively come to work off their face on shrooms, that fuel intake that looks like a penis with and has smiley faces on it drawn on it - that shit is gonna get picked up in peer review no worries. Take the time it took to fix that problem, and subtract it from the profit you will make implimenting the absolutely brilliant and inspired fix fo that fuel-tank thermal expansion problem that he wrote up on the next page while he ate his lunch.
If not - disipline him for comming to word inebriated and even fire his ass if you want to. But unless people are comming to work high - what is the problem? And who's business is it what people do at home if it doesn't effect their work for the worse?

I sure hope those industries with random drug tests don't value innovation. Coz in a few decades they'll likely be feeding their moral-high-horses to their starving families - as business goes elsewhere to companies that value creativity, based in "Liberal" countries that don't put up with that draconian random drug test shit.

You know, I've had this argument so many times. It's complete shit.

If you SHOW UP to work and you're unable to performs your duties, sure your employer has every right to do what they deem necessary. But if you do your job every day, have no problems, are a good worker, but also like to enjoy a joint in the evenings, why is that a problem?

Also, 99% of the drug tests are for marijuana. So basically I could be a coked out crackhead and be just fine for a job.

I've always felt it's hypocritical to have a "drug-free workplace" and not test for alcohol consumption. I understand there's an 80 hr alcohol test...

Just more of the same oppression. Just like the slaves we are, they want us to get up in the morning, go to work, and stop by the stores on the way so we can distribute their money like worker ants. Yet, if I stop on the side of the road to fish in the swamp (who the hell owns a swamp??) I get fined 260 dollars for trespassing and the dicknose stops of his own violition.

Agree 100% Roid. That's my biggest fear with socialist and the like. They come appearing to support freewill and liberalism, but in reality they are the worst of pushing their morality on others. They have an idea of how everything should be structured and ordered and then you have to fit in to that mold.

x2 4 all comments thus far...my boss personally does not give a rats ass as long as it does not hinder work performance.

We do have to random test for certain military/state/fed contracts though Rolling Eyes

Are you sure you don't have your political parties mixed up?

There - Fixed it. IMO, it now accurately portrays all of "them".

I don't doubt that but Flip pointed to Liberals and the first thing that came to mind was Texas, Kansas, Conservapedia and all it's little tentacles. Wrong party.

Well actually they ALL seem like liberals to me. In my definition of the word anyways. If I look back at all the administrations in the last 25 years they all seem to be going the same direction. So I agree with MD. It's not about truth with ANY of them but how they can control our thinking and accomplish their plans.

I know this topic is old but fuck it I've been busy.

Anyway, it's funny this is up for discussion here as this has been an ongoing problem in my life...I just recently graduated from university and have worked my way into the "Real World"...so I've been forced to stop smoking chronic in order to further my career. Lol.

The funny thing about this is that I've been drinking regularly, more so than I have since my sophomore year in college...I mean, I'm all for living clean and healthy; I've been working out and eating right lately and I feel like a responsible adult for the first time...ever?

But booze is far worse for me than pot ever will be. I'm just trying to clean my piss to get a promotion in the future...but I find it hilarious and extremely hypocritical that I can get hammered every night, doing potentially serious long-term damage -- yet if I smoke a fatty McBong and get tested for it I'm terminated.

Obviously the answer is to just not consume either substance...but for fuckssake, after an 8-10 hour workday, I'm exhausted and burnt out and I want to friggin relax. I don't believe something can be considered a vice unless it consumes and destroys you...moderation is key...but with weed there is no moderation. You either piss dirty or piss clean.

Welcome to the working world, I guess. We all have to play the game regardless of whether or not we like the rules.
