Finished My Franken Force MOD

Joysticks combined
CH USB 568 Combatstick
CH ForceFX (FX811)
Logitech Force Feedback

click me

I kept it very basic to start..... I will do additional mods later.

Still have the full functions of my Original USB 568 Combatstick in the FrankenForce since I used all the pots in the base assembly. Included the Power switch in front near the power supply connector as part of the mod, then I added 2 additional DPDT switches inline. These are located on the potentiometer commons prior to the pots. It gives the option to turn on or off the Logitech's set of X and Y pots and or X/Y/Z for the Combastick. This is because the 2 joysticks share different pots on the same axis in 2 different locations in the base(the original ForceFX had 2 sets of pots for each axis). So this way I do have the ability in-game during controller setup to assign each joysticks axis without conflicting by turning them off during calibration. Also instead of placing all the extra pots in 1 location on the back. I took a different approach, only the Logitech Z and R axis are on the back (for rudder and aileron trims use) and the Combatstick's Z pot for the is on the side (for elevator trim use)

Just another device added to my various setups . The only thing i had to fix about orginal guide for the mod was the connections to the X/Y motors instructions have them inverted in the diagram just remember black to black. Also some good testing software immersion

Added fan and heatsink for that hot chipset with the logitech board

Very cool!

Besides turning axes on/off during calibration, is there anything else you use the switches for?

I'm going to add a T568 connector(8 pin cat 5) to the side and hook up a removable break-out box for the original logitech hat and 4 buttons on the stick since they are chorded anyways and i only need 6 leads

The nice thing about the CH USB 568 Combatstick(which is the handle and 3 of the 7 pots in this mod) is it's programming abilities (logical scripting) the base and motors is from the Force FX(which was basically a combatstick without a Z axis) and the logitech board for the force controller. I have the base down the rest is creative

Hm, I guess I'm not completely understanding the benefit of modding the sticks together, or how you're using this. Can you clarify?

CH Products Force FX : the orginal FF stick that retailed for $225.00 which relied on Gameport and Serial (Iforce-only 1 of 2 joysticks that worked with D2 forcefeedback) It's the best FF out there ever fabricated, Period

Unfortunately it doesn't work with anything after windows 98SE since it was from 1996-98 and microsoft started a backdoor war on controller mfg's and tried to purchase immersion force feedback patents to control the equipment market.

CH Products USB 568 Combatstick : current sibling of ForceFX/Janes/Combatsick(Gameport) but using USB for PC/MAC with unmatched programming

Logitech Force Feedback 3Dpro - Cheap FF stick that has a great circuit board.... but the rest is crap (that's why the rest hit the garbage can)

Remove Force FX handle and circuit boards, drop 568 CS in it's place hook up pots this was step one. Now there is a USB 568 Combatstick in a ForceFX base.

Then use Logitech board hook up to second set of pots and Force FX- heavy duty motors. Step 2 complete now have USB FF with an Old Force FX stick

Finally plug in both usb cords and new power adapter fire up control manager for program CH stick features (plus pro throttle, pro pedals, throttle quadrant and trakir4- ... jump in a flight sim game and enjoy how it is meant to be be played.

spins, stalls, g-forces bullet impacts, guns, bombs...... yada yada yada

It's almost as bad as asking a N52 user why they purchased it -- when they have a perfectly good keyboard right in front of them :p

Ah, now it makes sense - it's a "combine the best components" mod. Very cool! Cool

If you can mod me a Franken-Keyboard with a directional thumb-pad like my N52 has, I'd use it. Wink

why you cant? keyboard+used 360/ps2/ps3 controller that has mini-joysticks and or D-Pads for the parts and a soldering iron and some epoxy putty

that's my next mod for this joy in the break-out box for the hat

originally started here , SPaRX did most of the hard work. In my quest i was going to trade the stick in a quest for another type (but I found it)

This is my second joystick, I use the fighter stick instead of the combatstick for regular sims. The finite control over the range of the axis is the reason why I modded the length of the joystick. And just because my shaft is longer than yours Zuruck, don't be hating

tried it with a p5 glove (next version of the Powerglove)
the glove hardware isn't so great, so it's pretty hard.
